Yarrow is classified by herbalists as one of the bitter herbs. Other herbs in this category include Centaurium, Gentian and Dandelion. These have the common ability to stimulate digestive processes, balancing gastric juice secretion and improving the breakdown of food.

Bitters stimulate the tastebuds. This triggers a reflex nerve action which increases the flow of saliva and stomach enzymes. The sum total of this is an improvement in the digestive function of the stomach and small intestines.

Yarrow contains volatile oils and flavonoids. These have an antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory action on the digestive system, easing colic and reducing flatulence. It may be very useful for the diverse symptoms of IBS.


Do not use if you intend to sunbathe or use a sunbed as Yarrow can have a photosensitising action.

In the use of bitter herbs, the bitter taste is essential to its therapeutic action, so do not attempt to disguise the taste.

Ingredients:
100g of Plant Tincture (extracted in alcohol 60% by volume) typically contains the tincture of: Achillea millefolium 29.5g, Taraxacum officinalis 22g, Melissa officinalis 18.5g, Gentiana lutea 17g, Carduus benedictus 7g, Angelica archangelica 3g, Centaurium umbellatum 3g.
Directions for use:
Adults: 20-30 drops 3 times daily in a little water.
Children: (2-12years): 1 drop per year of age once daily in a little water.
This product is not recommended for children under 2 years of age.
