Equazen Eye Q Liquid Citrus Flavour 200ml
Citris flavoured EPA-rich marine fish oil and virgin evening primrose oil,
formulated to help maintain eye and brain function.
Getting children to take fatty acids,
especially fish oil, can be problematic. Often, the industrial methods used to
disguise the fishy taste can damage the delicate fatty acids, and involve using
synthetic additives that are not suited for those with dietary
sensitivities. When we formulated our two eye q liquid
variants, we decided on the most pure and natural route.
Firstly, our hi-EPA marine lipid used across the eye q range
has been processed to remove much of the fishy taste and odour. We use a
turbo-steam deodorisation method in which the oil is placed in a near-absolute
vacuum, and washed with steam. This means that the oil is protected during this
natural method of washing out any volatiles. You can see more about this in our
Equazen Process section, but the important thing is that we end up with a
pleasant tasting fish oil.
We then marry the fish oil with our virgin EPO, certified free of any chemicals
or additives, and a hi-oleic sunflower oil. This stabilises the long chain fatty
acids, which if unprotected, have a tendency to oxidise.
Perhaps the most crucial stage is the flavouring: or more precisely, making sure
we use the right ones.
The vanilla flavour should find favour with the most discerning
of young palates. We use non-solvent CO2 to extract our vanilla essence from the
finest Madagascan vanilla beans. We then employ the latest flavouring technology
developed for the luxury ice cream industry. The vanilla essence is mixed with
vegetable oil extracts that actually trigger the sensation of sweetness on the
taste buds. This gives the oil a creamy sugary taste, but it is sugar-free!
Selection of the citrus flavour is similarly rigorous. We use a
blend of lemon and lime essential oils: extracted from the rinds of these citrus
fruits with steam. Importantly, the steam washes out any salicylaic acid, a
water-soluble element which can cause reactions amongst those with dietary
sensitivities.
Both variants of eye q™liquid come in FDA-approved aluminium
flasks, developed in Switzerland for the pharmaceutical industry. Light, durable
and superior to glass, this material has for years been the industry standard
for transporting oils. The interior is coated with a food-grade lacquer,
ensuring that at no stage does the oil contact the container
Recommended Dosage
1 tsp per day with food.
Taking eye q™ for the first time, take at least 3 teaspoons per day with food
for 12 weeks. These levels of consumption reflect numerous studies which show
that it can take about 12 weeks to build up the body's stores of long chain
fatty acids. After this time, you can reduce the intake to a maintenance level,
usually one teaspoon per day.
These intakes are suitable for both adults and children.
