How Infrared Works

What is Infrared heat?
Infrared
Light-spectrum and Physiotherm frequencies

Infrared is a natural electromagnetic radiation that is invisible to the human eye and which is radiated by an object depending upon its temperature. This infrared radiation heats when in contact with the skin; hence the popular expression "warmth radiation". The sun emits infrared radiation just as much an oven or a human body itself. This can all be made visible with the aid of an infrared camera.

Infrared deep warmth warms the body directly, but not by the surrounding air.
A small example illustrates this:
If we stand in the sun we become warm, yet if we move into the shade we become cooler - although the air temperature is the same.

The warming infrared radiation should not be confused with ultraviolet radiation. UV radiation provides a sun tan, but can cause severe damage to the skin.

How does Physiotherm Infrared therapy work?

The human body requires warmth in order to function optimally as we are warm-blooded and all bodily reactions are geared to functioning particularly well at temperatures of around 37° Celsius. For this reason, the human body contains an efficient temperature control system. Under normal circumstances, this makes it possible to keep the temperature constant to within a few tenths of a degree.

By increasing what is known as core body temperature, our immune system is stimulated into mobilising more power for a short period. The processes of metabolism are speeded up. The supply of blood to body tissue is increased, as is its supply of nutrients and oxygen. More defence cells can also be delivered to where they are required.

In addition to that, the transport of metabolic waste from body tissue is accelerated. The immune system works more quickly and powerfully and can thus combat unwanted intruders, as well as accelerating the healing process.

With a Physiotherm, the gentle increase of core body temperature makes it possible to give the body access to increased temperature without strain. The special Physiotherm infrared deep warmth thus helps our bodies to fortify themselves, by deliberately increasing body core temperature slightly but effectively.

5-Therapy™ system - enhancing the physical and emotional experience  Infra-Red Therapy Sauna

Physiotherm offers unsurpassed Far Infrared treatment incorporating safe sunlight therapy, colour, aroma and sound therapy. These therapies are unique to Physiotherm and provide you the ultimate wellness experience.
Physiotherm consulted many complementary health experts to ascertain which synergistic healing therapies could be used within their cabins. The result was a total of five complementary systems; aromatherapy, safe sunlight therapy, colour therapy, music therapy and of course Far Infrared.

What is Colour therapy?

Colour is both a wavelength and a particle. Different colours vibrate at different rates with slowest rate of vibration being red and the fastest being Violet. Therefore, different colours can have differing effects on the body as follows:

Red - a great colour to use to revitalize the body. It increases the body's metabolic rate more then other colours and is therefore effective for improving circulation and maximizing calorie burning.

Orange - symbolizes joy and happiness and helps raise the spirit. It's a bright, warm source of encouragement for all aspects of life and is therefore fantastic for lifting depression and the ‘winter blues’.

Green - a cooling, sedating colour. It also assists the immune system and therefore is a great colour to use if you feel the flu coming on.

Blue -  a cool colour that has a claming effect. This is the colour to use for those with sleep disturbances or if you are using you cabin later in the day.

Violet - promotes awareness and consciousness. It is the colour for neutralizing emotional wounds and for spiritual growth.

What is safe Sunlight therapy?

Light gives life. We experience this every spring when the days become longer and the warming sunlight awakens nature. People too naturally become more joyful. We can appreciate the influence of sunlight on humans by looking at the differences between the people of northern and southern Europe. Statistically there is more depression in the northern parts of Europe particularly in the long dark winter months.
Physiotherm’s Safe Sunlight therapy has an effect similar to that of natural sunlight for combating Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) in the winter months. UV light is limited to DIN 5036, so that no sunburn occurs. It can lead to the production of vital vitamin D, strengthening resistance to disease and acting as a stimulator of the self-healing ability of the body.

What is Aroma therapy?

Aromatherapy has been practiced in one form or another since the beginning of civilization. It is the art and science of using oils, extracted from aromatic plants to enhance health and beauty. Apart from the physical benefits, essential oils can have subtle effects on the mind and emotions, stimulating positive results.

When you inhale essential oils, they enter into your respiratory system. In your lungs, molecules of essential oils attach themselves to oxygen molecules and are carried into your blood stream and circulated to every cell in your body including the brain. Within the cells, essential oils can activate the body’s ability to heal it’s self and to improve health.

What is Music or Sound therapy?

Sound has powerful possibilities to exert positive influences on body and mind. Correctly selected, music for relaxation and meditation can help make us cheerful, more balanced and reduce stress.

N.B. SPORT-TYPE DRINKING BOTTLES ONLY allowed in the Sauna – no screw tops or cups. Spillage could damage the sauna elements.

Hydrotherapy Bath

How Whirlpool Baths Work

In a whirlpool bath, water is drawn from the bath and forced back in through whirlpool jets. The result is a powerful, invigorating effervescence throughout the water, also known as hydrotherapy. The curative and soothing powers of hydrotherapy have been known down through the centuries, and the manufacturer of our whirlpool bath has combined this knowledge with their own expertise to offer you the very latest in whirlpool technology.

Benefits of Whirlpool Baths

There are 3 things that are important for your maximum benefit and enjoyment:

Hydrotherapy Bath
  • Heat: in the form of warm water raises the body temperature allowing blood vessels to dilate, resulting in increased circulation, allowing aching and sore muscles to heal.

  • Buoyancy: supports your body weight and relieves the pressures on your muscles and joints, helping relaxation.

  • Massage Effect: of mixing air and water and dispersing across areas of your body, gives a gentle deep massage or an invigorating pulsing effect depending upon your adjustment of the controls.

Private, Automatic Spray Tan Booth    Private, Automatic Spray Tan Booth

Get a healthy tan in private in our Automatic Spray Tan Booth. The Coco Bay UV free tanning solution is guaranteed to be the most natural, golden brown spray on colour solution you can use. This Aloe Vera based, non-sticky, fast dry solution incorporates premium instant cosmetic bronzer for an immediate, sexy, “just off the beach” look.

Automatic Spray Tan Booth

Instructions

Important: Any skin treatments such as shaving, waxing or laser treatment should be completed at least 24 hours before the tanning session to prevent skin irritation.

Seek medical advice if you suffer from asthma, psoriasis or eczema before using the unit.

For best results, the evening before:

Exfoliate your skin with Dead Sea Spa Magik Salt Brushing and moisturise with Dead Sea Spa Magik Body Lotion. This will assist and ensure a good absorption by the skin of the tanning solution and even coverage.

N.B. You should not shower or bath for at least 8 hours after your spray tan to allow it to develop.

On the day:

Wear loose, dark coloured clothing so that the lotion is not rubbed off before it has time to develop. If the instant bronzer in the tanning solution marks clothing it usually washes out but we cannot guarantee this.

Remove any make-up and jewellery.

Wear the shower cap provided. The shower cap should cover the hair leaving a small amount of the hairline showing. The shower cap should be worn behind the ears.

A member of staff will activate the unit. The green start button in the tanning booth will illuminate and flash.

You can then lock the door of the room and remove your clothing.

Use the Vaseline provided on finger and toenails before entering the booth. This is the final part of the preparation. Please ensure barrier cream or Vaseline is not present on the skin as it will prevent DHA absorption.

Enter the tanning booth and close the doors. Follow the Automatic Spray Stance Instructions.

AFTER YOUR SPRAY TAN – TO HELP PROLONG IT

It is important that customers take their time and follow these few steps when their UV free spray tanning session has finished.

·        Remove Vaseline or barrier cream from finger and toenails.

·        Check the tan has been applied evenly over body not forgetting the underarm area.

·        If parts of the body appear to be unevenly sprayed, put disposable gloves on and gently move the solution and spread DHA from surrounding area to evenly distribute it.

·        Remove shower cap.

·        Wipe palms of your hands thoroughly with a paper towel to remove excess DHA.

·        Dry feet with a paper towel removing excess tanning solution from the sides and the soles.

·        Allow tanning solution to dry for a minimum of 8 hours prior to showering. We strongly dissuade customers from bathing as this soaks/removes DHA. We recommend using a dark coloured towel to dry off after your first shower. Please note: It is quite normal for shower water to be discoloured during showering, it is only the instant bronzer being washed from the skin surface.

·        Avoid any strenuous exercise likely to result in sweating prior to the first shower being taken. Excess moisture can result in streaking and uneven patches.

·        Moisturise daily.  Avoid long baths (bathing accelerates exfoliation)

·        Avoid swimming (chlorine accelerates exfoliation)

·        Do not rub skin after bathing, dry skin by gently patting

·        Exercise gently to avoid excessive sweating
