| Alkalise and Energise! AS SEEN ON TV on Good Friday 2005 green drink, purchased from Herbs, Gardens & Health, being drunk by Ant & Dec and Natalie Imbruglia on The Paul O’Grady Show! Natalie is a great fan of the green powdered formula and drinks it wherever she goes.
ALKALISE AND ENERGISE!
Maintain a balanced acid-alkaline body chemistry for optimal health and vitality. When you change to an alkaline lifestyle, you can have the lean, trim body you’ve always wanted and experience a new level of wellness, energy and mental clarity.
LOSE WEIGHT!
Fat is an Acid Problem! Dr. Young’s theory of the cause of obesity shows that fat is actually an over-acidification problem. The body creates fat cells to carry acids away from your vital organs, so these acids don’t literally choke your organs to death. Fat is saving your life! Fat is actually a response from the body to an alarming over-acidic condition. The solution? Alkalise and Energise.
FIGHT DISEASE!
Dr. Young’s “New Biology”, most simply stated, is that the over-acidification of the body is the single underlying cause of all disease. Dr. Young has found that when the body is in a healthy alkaline balance, germs are unable to get a foothold. For further information read Dr. Young’s “The pH Miracle” book. £8.99

| EU Advocate General says Food Supplements Directive is INVALID! The European Court of Justice’s Advocate General Geelhoed concluded on the 5th April that the EU’s controversial 2002 Food Supplements Directive is invalid.
If the court shares his view that the directive is invalid when it reaches its final verdict in July, the European Commission will have to renegotiate it.
The Advocate General’s opinion is likely to be influential in the final outcome.
If this opinion is followed through in the verdict, millions of UK consumers can continue to buy the specialist food supplements they have been using safely for many years.

| Aromatherapy Foot Care: Fifth in a Series by Andrea Bellamy, Complementary Therapist Last year I completed a non-surgical footcare course to enable me to incorporate other facets into my treatment such as nail tidying and hard skin removal. As well as using this with my foot massage and reflexology treatments it has enabled me to do general footcare for those who cannot reach their feet easily, as well as pedicure.
I learned a lot from the course and became aware of the huge importance of looking after our feet and how the condition of our feet affects the rest of our body. This has inspired me to make up a lot of aromatherapy-based creams to help with different conditions.
Circulatory problems usually show themselves in the foot due to the distance from the heart, and feet can often feel cold as a result. I used marjoram, black pepper and ginger in foot creams to help improve the blood flow to the feet, which, therefore improves circulation generally and makes the feet feel warm.
I was surprised when learning about treatments for athlete’s foot that there is still a lack of understanding when it comes to alternative methods.
Tea tree is extremely effective against athlete’s foot and I would much rather use it than any of the prescribed typical treatments. It also can be effective against verrucas and warts when used regularly as it is anti-viral and anti-bacterial.
I usually put a few drops in the foot spar to clean my clients feet with before their treatment begins.
Recently I was working on a client who had a lot of fluid retention in her feet. Reflexology worked extremely well for her with the addition of specially blended cream using fennel and geranium, both excellent oils for excess fluid.
Combining aromatherapy with other treatments increases the intensity of the treatment and makes it more effective. Peppermint is commonly used in foot creams due to its refreshing nature whilst lavender cream massaged in to the feet has a calming and relaxing effect. Massaging the feet improves circulation and the use of oils or cream is important for dry skin, which can crack and become infected if left unattended.
Working with people’s feet has certainly made me aware of the danger of not looking after my own and I would certainly recommend a little more care and attention. The use of aromatherapy oils is a wonderful way to get started.

| Wildlife Garden Well, we’ve had tons of frogspawn which has now turned into hundreds of wiggling tadpoles! We’ve seen at least half a dozen newts, so they are back in the pond after winter on the land. The hole the Great Spotted Woodpecker made in our Willow tree last year was taken over by Green Parakeets in November, and they have produced, we think, two babies. Of course, we would rather have seen baby woodies, which are native to this country, but it is still interesting watching the Parakeets. I was looking through the binoculars wondering what they were doing, when I saw the adult regurgitating and feeding the baby! The picture above is the best I could get of this. The baby then went back into the hole when the adult flew off, probably in search of more food. The baby was the same size as the adults but fluffier. It did not yet have a long tail like its parents, just a stubby one, though it is now flying about. We have seen this one out on the tree and the adult feeding another through the hole, so there must be at least two! ...
