Aqua Oleum Ginger Essential Oil 10ml

Ginger has been used as a spice for more than 25 centuries, and is quite unique in that it is a root spice, where as most other spices are grown above ground. Ginger is an important crop for a number of countries and its economic importance is reflected in the fact that it is currently the tenth most important spice in world terms. World production of dry ginger root runs in excess of 100 tonne per annum. Although we import ours from China, other major countries include Kenya, India, Taiwan, Nigeria and Jamaica - whose oil is of premier quality but is mainly bought up by traders and sold at exorbitant prices. After harvesting the roots/rhizomes are roughly classified into three categories namely, Fresh, Dry and Propagation. The essential oil from a dry root will be quite different to the essential oil from a fresh production, which is quite remarkable when you consider that there are over 200 known constituents in Ginger oil. We have listed the following table as an indication of a typical Chinese oil against a lesser-known Sri Lankan oil, comparing dry and fresh productions of both:
