Aqua Oleum Rose Maroc Essential Oil 5% Dilution 10ml

Rose Absolute is prepared from the concrete by extraction with alcohol, normally hexane or benzene. The extract is cooled in order to precipitate the waxes that are eventually filtered off. The alcoholic solution is finally distilled under reduced pressure to remove the alcohol leaving behind the floral absolute.

In the past, the wax by-product was either sold on to cosmetic companies for use in base creams or used as a base for reconstituted / synthetic Rose compounds. Today, this is rare as the price of Rose Absolute, like Jasmin Absolute, is somewhat cheaper due to increased availability and our determination to deal directly with source. You can pay quite high prices for these floral absolutes if you wish, but the profits are not making their way back to the producers - usually you are paying the middlemen. On our last trip to Morocco, we asked some of the local co-operatives where they sell the majority of their products - the answer was France. None of them export directly to the UK.

Over the years, the Moroccan Rose Absolute has proved to be a favourite with UK aromatherapists in preference to other countries like Bulgaria, Turkey, China and even France! The collecting of petals usually takes place in May and can some times extend into June depending on the weather conditions. Rose de Mai (Rose of May) as it is still popularly referred to, is quite different in odour to the Rose Otto and usually costs about one third of the Otto price, depending on currency fluctuations.
