Cod Liver Oil is an inexpensive oil, well known for helping to keep joints supple. As it's name states, it actually comes from the liver of the fish, hence it is rich in vitamins A and D. Vitamin A can help to ward off colds and strengthen the mucous membranes. Vitamin D helps with the absorption of calcium. Many people can remember being given it as a child for keeping colds away and for strong bones and healthy skin. At one time, it was probably the most popular supplement.

Fish body oils, which contain Omega 3 essential fatty acid, come from the body of oily fish such as mackerel or herring. Like Cod Liver Oil, fish body oils can also help to maintain healthy joints. Their anti-inflammatory properties offer added benefits for people with joint pain. Fish body oils are also known for being good for the heart and circulation. They can help improve memory and concentration, and assist in reducing cholesterol and high blood pressure. They can also be helpful for eczema and dry skin conditions.
